Curated by Canadian writer, editor and publisher rob mclennan, the “spotlight” series appears the first Monday of every month.

STATEMENT

My writing right now is interested in domestic spaces, how materials start to constitute intimacies and the embodied person within the home. Though these two pieces feel very different, I think they’re both circling around what it means to inhabit space with different bodies and objects.

The first investigates the materiality and subjectivity of anger within the home. The second explores models of care. Both are contained by the objects and interactions with objects that constitute a home.

TWO POEMS

Sarah MacDonell bakes, bikes and scuttles around Ottawa. She works with a fabulous team on Canthius Literary Magazine and admires the many fierce and careful femmes who uplift her. She sporadically writes poems and spends a lot of time thinking about community and belonging.
